Artists for Japan Pix

Thank you for coming out for the Artists for Japan benefit held at Kobo at Higo! We have raised over $91,000! Thank you patient patrons waiting in line in the rain for 40 minutes on opening! You can view my small Flickr set here.

I met a ton of really generous people, and on Sunday people snatched up some nice discounted items, that at the end of the day the only framed piece left was the Pikadons Diptych!  Thanks for snapping up all my pieces!

Or you can view the slideshow below taken and put together by Sean Frego!

Catalogue :: Posters available at Sakuracon

Hey peeps.

I'll have a booth again this year at Sakuracon so come on by!

I have made my first enfu poster catalogue which I plan to debut at the convention for sale for $20.

See you there!!

X17 x Enfu

Redd Walitzki & Carl Faulkner graciously along with Johnathan Wakuda Fischer helped put together the "Under the Influence" show at the 619 Bldg X17 Studio on the 4th floor.  The show will be taken down soon but it was fun while it lasted!

Here are the pix from the show, lots of great people turned out!  I met some really genuine awesome people, artists, students, musicians, and am really excited about making some more art now!

Enfu @ Chiso

Chiso Sushi is in the heart of Fremont.  (map) And the heart of Fremont now carries more Enfu artworks through our unusually hot Seattle summer period of July and August.  Check it out, add it to your bucket list.  Or you can be lazy and view my Flickr Photo set here.  ;P  Prices and Dims info attached to Flickr image descriptions.  Go tell sushi chef Hiro that Enfu sent you!

Yakuza Kewpie (893QP) Puris

This Puris images is tilable.  Which means if you bought many of them and put them side by side the image would continue.  Of course if you were to buy many you must be made of money because at $500 a pop the Puris' home only goes to the select.

If you're interested in purchasing any of these prints please send me a message.

Because they're so popular I lowered the price.

The Nihontown Large Poster is by far my most popular print.  Since its debut we've sold over 500 of them!

I've also been selling them from at Emerald City Comicon, Sakura-Con, and Akimatsuri at a discounted booth price of $20 over the years.  So at the stores as well as my online store I've lowered the price too to $20!

The EnFuBar Poster has also been reduced in price to $20!

Thanks so much for your continued support always, I really appreciate it!

Authentic Japanese

Often times I get asked where I think the best sushi is in Seattle.  Its a fair question, because it usually comes after me saying "Ask me where you think the best sushi in Seattle is?"

But what I really think they'd want to know is what does a Japanese* person think a good Japanese restaurant is?  I know this because I can read their mind.

So I wrote this comic which is up in my comics section, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to plop a blog entry on this.

Trying not to sound too pretentious I usually give people what eateries I like, but with the caveat that I don't get around to eat at all places.  I am a Foodie, but I'm no cook nor professional critic.

But what I suspect we all think we want is an authentic experience.  Its always annoying to hear people say that this (insert food item) isn't as good as (motherland).  I never expect the sushi to be as good in Seattle as what I had at Tsukiji, nor do I expect a great burger in Tokyo like the local Red Mill Burger.

I don't care if the waiter/waitress speaks Japanese or pronounces everything on the menu correctly.  I don't care if my tea comes in a bag or poured.  I don't care if I sit on a tatami floor.  I really don't care if the sushi chefs are Hispanic, or the owners are Korean or White.  I don't care if the Kansai style plate is served in a Tokyo themed place.

All in all what I really care about is enjoying a shared experience with those I eat with.  That makes my experience authentic.

*-I consider myself Japanese American.

Enfu Sightings in the wild.

There are lots of sightings of my stuff out in the wild, there is a section called enfu sightings where I post all the pics that are sent to me.  Check it out.

Looks to me like this was in a parking lot.

I like it when people show me where they stuck their stickers.  Thanks!

Also I saw a range of people walking around with the Uwajimaya Bag that is almost sold out.

This kid had bought my sticker and pin and put it on the bag.  He picked up the J-Chix Eri sticker.  Thank you!  The stickers are available at Kobo and the J-Chix Eri sticker is available at Blue C Sushi.

Enfu x SakuraCon 2010

I had a blast at Sakura-Con.  Met lots of new people from all walks of life.  Simply observing from my corner booth I got to see what it means to have no inhibitions and see all types of people express themselves creatively.  A lot of the costumes were very well made, you could tell a lot of time and effort were put into these things.  I also saw many supportive parents chauffeur their kids, make costumes for them, and even participating with them.  Hats off to them.  Below are my choice picks of the pix from Sakura-Con.  The rest of them can be found at my Flickr Set.

I am thankful

Thank you Blue C Sushi for giving me so much exposure & selling my prints at their downtown location where all four walls are covered with my stuff.
Thank you Ibuki magazine for allowing me to have a comic where I get to say stupid unfunny weird stuff just cause.
Thank you Kobo for always being willing to carry all my prints and really being my HQ for all my prints.
Thanks you Uwajimaya for allowing me to make a bag of a place where as a kid I felt some sort of cultural validation.
Thank you Bluebottle Art Gallery, Wing Luke Asian Museum, Compound Art Gallery, Split Obsession, Rock Paper Scissors, Giant Robot, and Hiroki's for finding ways to collaborate with me.
Thank you to all my supportive coworkers, I respect so much being able to be surrounded by your talent.
Thank you fans for being so enthusiastic about my works, reminding me why I do things.

And most of all I thank my family for always being so supportive of my hobby which has taken me  so many places.

Enfu at Sakura-Con 2010

Enfu will be at Sakura-Con 2010 at booth #430, this will be my second Sakura-Con appearance, and by the response I got from the fans I think it could be an annual thing.
