Emerald City Comicon Booth 802

Hi guys. It has been a long time since I've posted any updates on my blog. This past year I've really been focusing on developing my very own iOS game. I've also been super busy at work with the release of Scribblenauts Unlimited for the WiiU. It is now out in the wild.

As you may know this about me already I make video game environments for a living. I've been now doing this for a decade! I've been doing this Emerald City Comicon for the 8th straight year and since starting I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by my current and former coworkers at 5th Cell and Bungie

Booth 802 is a group of Artists who work in the video game industry. We are representing ourselves and not our company, although some of you may know us more from our work.

Let me introduce you to our 802 group of Artists this year:

Lorraine and Robt McLees, Isaac Hannaford, Milton Cadogan, Scott Kikuta (Crayon Monsters), Akio Segawa, Nick Southam, Ryan Lee, and Ken Taya (Enfu).

Also I believe 3 out of the 10 of us have our illustrations in the exclusive Emerald City Comicon Monsters and Dames book. So please stop by and have us sign our page!

So mark your maps, find us here!

enfu + yummy panda show at Phinney Center Gallery

I had told myself I would not do a show this year, but I could not resist. Here is the next show coming up May 11th from 6pm-9pm. Yummy Panda and I will be showing our works together, see you there.

I will be debuting the EnfuTown poster there.

Here is the postcard for the show, hope you can make it!

I Fart George Takei Rainbow

I got to show George Takei the I Fart Rainbow comic I did of him at the Emerald City Comicon, and the brief interaction I had with him was great. He read the comic, and in the most Takei deep dramatic voice you can imagine he said: "You put me in great company. Martin Luther King? Susan B Anthony? Gloria Steinem? And...Oh My." For me, this brief interaction of meeting a hero of mine was slightly surreal but profoundly fulfilling. I thanked him for supporting the causes he's passionate about and then went on my way. Thank you, George Takei. I wished I could've gotten you to pose with my rainbow fart prop, but you still made my day!

The bag signings and the poster debut at the 3 Uwajimaya locations was a success! Thanks everybody for coming out, getting a bag or 7 signed, and showing your support! I've collected a few images from all over for you to enjoy here.

Uwajimaya Freshness Bags by enfu

3/21, today the Uwajimaya bags debut.

On 3/24 I will not only be signing the bags at the Uwajimaya stores at the times listed, but will also be selling the posters:

Dims: 19.5"x19.5" for $20 each or $30 for the set of 2.

We are currently working on a Beaverton Store appearance stay tuned. Thank you again for your support of your local Artist and local small business. The posters will be available to purchase from this website in a couple weeks.

enfu x wing luke auction 2012

Thanks for coming out to support the Wing Luke, generous patrons!

I debuted the Uwajimaya's "Freshness Seafood" and "Freshness Produce" Diptych canvas prints at the live auction! It raised money for the Wing's Youth Can program, the whole point of the gala.

The bags I was lucky to design will be on sale at stores March 21st.

It was the first of the edition of 25, and it is huge. If you would like to purchase any further editions feel free to contact me.

I got to meet Shannon Lee, the star of the show, and I'm glad she enjoyed my print. I asked if I could somehow work in her dad in an "i fart rainbow" comic.

Also excited to meet Tom Skerritt

I had a blast at the auction, thank you patrons and thank you Wing Luke!

Enfu going Indie at GDC

Last year I decided I wanted to explore the medium of my profession, which is making video games. I've thoroughly enjoyed the creation of my meticulous illustrations, and each new piece I've learned so much, but it was time to attempt something new. So at the beginning of 2012 I've begun developing a new game. With the moral support from my coworkers at 5th Cell I've mustered the courage to attempt this journey. Right now all I can tell you is I'm motivated to design a game to cater to my 5 year old daughter, as I watch in frustration with her frustration as she plays games that are targetted at her. So I jumped at the opportunity to go to GDC (Game Developers Conference) in SF last week, and I learned so much. Despite making video games for almost 10 years, I know little about making a game from scratch. I'm here to explore new ideas and expose myself to new experiences, and I'd love to share my journey with you.

Below are some pics from my adventures of me being a fanboy but also being photobombed by my coworker Tom.
